Welcome to Barstow

The city of Barstow, California is located in San Bernardino County at the historic crossroads of pioneer trails in the Mojave Desert.

Barstow is best known for being a major transportation center hub for the Inland Empire, as Interstate 15, Interstate 40, and California State Route 58 all meet in the city. Plus, agriculture and mining contribute largely to the local economy.

The Union Pacific Railroad also runs through Barstow, where it winds its way to Salt Lake City and the BNSF Railway travels north to Chicago. Unsurprisingly perhaps, given the city’s central location and historical significance, Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow also calls Barstow home.

Sprinkled along Main Street, you’ll enjoy a series of murals representing scenes from the city’s history. The Skyline Drive-In is one of the last operating drive-in movie theaters in San Bernardino County.

Living in Barstow, you’ll discover plenty of rich history at several of Barstow’s attractions like the Mojave River Valley Museum, Route 66 Mother Road Museum, and the Rainbow Basin National Natural Landmark.

Nearby in Yermo, California, you can tour Calico Ghost Town and Calico Early Man Site, an archeological excavation site that features thousands of prehistoric tools, some dating back 200,000 years.
